Why is Brighton special? - Ronel

Why is Brighton special?

If you have never been to Brighton it is surely a place to visit.

Brighton has many things going for it.  Most of all, for me, would be its diversity.  The colleges and universities bring many students to the city each year, which means there is always a flow of new people, ideas, and interests.  Due to Brighton being a city by the sea it also welcomes day-trippers and tourists from all over the country and indeed, the rest of the world!

Brighton is a great place for shopping.  Both the North Laine and the South Lanes are riddled with independent shops, like Brighton Silver, for example!  If you are looking for something unique, antique, hand-made, or quirky, the local traders offer it all.  Brighton also bursts with many fantastic restaurants and pubs.  You will never fail to find the perfect place to have a meal or a pint!

Brighton is a hub of creativity.  Walking through Brighton you will often come across vibrant and colourful street art from talented graffiti artists.  The images frequently change, which means the artistic landscape is always full of surprises.

Brighton hosts many festivals, which again brings diversity to the city.  The Brighton Fringe Festival, The Brighton Festival, Brighton Pride, The Great Escape, The Thai Festival, The Brighton Science Festival, to name a few.  From art to music, science, and food, etc. the festivals bring a broad array of talent to the city and there is never a dull moment.

A stone's throw away from all this hustle and bustle is the stunning South Downs.  A short ride on the bus and you find yourself surrounded by breath-taking countryside.  You really don't have to go far at all to exhale and enjoy the rejuvenation of Mother Nature.  She is right on Brighton's doorstep!

I am utterly in love with Brighton - hook, line, and sinker.  My words don't do this place justice.  Everyone who visits and lives here has their own experience of what makes Brighton special.  Beauty, after all, is in the eye of the beholder.

There is no better time of the year to tell you the story of the Claddagh ring.  With Valentines day just around the corner on 14th February, our team member Georgi writes about the legends and symbolism associated with it.
