Garnet has been used since the Bronze Age, its name comes from the 14th Century Middle English word gernet, meaning 'dark red'. It is derived from the Latin granatus, from granum ('grain, seed'). This is possibly a reference to the pomegranate, a plant whose fruit contains vivid red seed covers similar in size, shape and colour to some Garnet crystals.
Although Garnets can be found in a multitude of colours, we house only the more popular red variety. It is one of our personal favourites and is available in most of our stone set designs.
The jewellery below can all be made using Garnet, take a look!
